Game Designer

About Me:

My name is Brandon, and I am a game designer based in London who specialises in game design and level design. I recently just completed my bachelors degree in game design at Brunel University London and I am currently looking for work.

I enjoy solving and designing puzzles, my outlook on game design is that it is very much like a puzzle. With all the components such as level design, mechanics, theme, etc. being the pieces that complete the whole puzzle. With one piece missing or out of place the puzzle fails to be complete.

My favourite games are; Subnautica, Stardew Valley and Cyberpunk

Education:

As mentioned above, I recently just graduated from Brunel University London having studied a bachelor of arts in Games Design. For which I achieved a Second Class (Upper Division) with Honours (2.1). During my time at Brunel I was an active member of the Brunel Games Design society, becoming       Vice-chair in my second year and continuing in my third.

At Brunel I specialised in the Design path of the degree, studying; Game Design, Level Design, Setting and World Design, Economy Design, Game Development, 3D modelling and Experimental Games. Additionally I undertook an internship with Brunel`s Game Studio, Octopus 8 Studios. This involved designing, developing and releasing a game with other students, during which I took the role of Lead Designer.

While at Brunel I discovered my passion for Level and World Design, taking multiple models with this as my focus. I have always admired the thought that goes behind level design, and now undertaking this myself is nothing but a joy. Eventually this led me to researching Ecological Design, which became the focus of my final year dissertation and end of year showcase project.

My Goal in this industry is to leave a mark, impacting how levels and worlds are designed with ecology in consideration. I am happy for this to be gradual as long as I get to it eventually. Someday I would like to hold the role of ecological designer, which would be a      sub-genre of level and/or world designer, helping to bring focus to the inclusion and treatment of ecologies, environment and animals within games.
